Raichur: A 5-year-old girl tested positive for Zika virus in Koli camp in Manavi taluk. The girl showed symptoms of dengue, and she was admitted to Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) a few days ago. Her samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune, and the result came back positive for the Zika virus, said Raichur DHO.
Speaking to hubliexpress.com, DHO said that the girl recovered and her sample came back negative after a fresh test conducted just three days ago.
He said they have initiated a survey of larva in the village. The health department is testing samples from those who have the fever to see if it is an isolated case. The DHO said that health workers are creating awareness and explaining the measures to prevent malaria, dengue, and other mosquito-borne diseases.
