Rahul Gandhi to visit Belagavi
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Belagavi on March 20, marking his first visit to the state since his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The visit is seen as the Congress party’s attempt to catch up with the opposition BJP’s national leaders who have been frequent visitors to the state in the lead-up to the assembly elections.
According to sources, this will be Rahul Gandhi’s first pre-election campaign in the state. In preparation for his visit, KPCC President DK Shivakumar has called for a preliminary meeting of Congress leaders from the Belagavi Division on March 16 at the Belagavi District Congress Committee office.
The meeting will be attended by various Congress leaders from the Chikkodi, Belagavi City, Belagavi Rural, Hubballi City, Dharwad Rural, Bagalkote, Vijayapur, Gadag, and Haveri District Congress Committees, as well as MLAs, former MPs, former ministers, in-charge KPCC office bearers, DCC Presidents, Congress party ticket aspirants, and the district presidents of all the party units.
