On April 23 (Sunday), Rahul Gandhi, former chief of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), will join a Basava Jayanti program at Kudalasangama. This sacred site holds great significance as it is where the 12th-century social reformer Basavanna preached and his Aikya Mantapa is located.
MB Patil, former minister and chairman of the Congress party’s campaigning committee, informed reporters in Vijayapura on Saturday, that Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Hubballi airport and then travel to Kudalasangama by helicopter.
There, he will visit the Kudalasangama temple and the Aiyka Mantap to seek blessings before joining the Basava Jayanti program. Later that day, around 4:25 pm, he will fly to Vijayapura to participate in the Congress party’s election campaign and stay overnight in Vijayapura. The next day, he will return to Delhi. According to sources, former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who recently joined the Congress party from the BJP, are also expected to attend the event.
