New Delhi, May 22 (HS): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the new Parliament building should be inaugurated by the President. He represents the Constitution and every citizen of the country.
Kharge tweeted on Monday that the Modi government makes presidents from Dalit and tribal communities only for electoral reasons. He said that when the foundation stone of this new Parliament House was laid, the then President Ramnath Kovind was not invited and now President Droupadi Murmu is not invited in the inauguration ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament House built at a cost of about Rs 1,200 crore on May 28. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also objected to the proposed inauguration by PM Modi. Gandhi also tweeted that the President should inaugurate the new Parliament House, not the Prime Minister.
