Pre-2019 Vehicles Must Install High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in Karnataka, Know Everything About It

Bengaluru, By Hubli Express News:In a bid to enhance security and curb counterfeiting, the Karnataka transport department has issued a mandate requiring all vehicles registered before April 2019 to have high-security registration plates (HSRP) installed.

Sharing information on Twitter (Now X) Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Traffic said that all the vehicles registered before April 2019 should have HSRP installed. And deadline for this November 17 (17/11/2023)

What is HSRP?

HSRP is a specialized type of number plate constructed from aluminum and affixed to a vehicle using two non-removable locks. These plates feature a chromium hologram of Ashoka Chakra, measuring 20 mm x 20 mm, which is hot-stamped onto the top left corner of both the front and rear plates. This hologram serves as a security measure to deter counterfeiting.

To get HSRPs in Karnataka, vehicle owners can follow these steps:

Visit the Karnataka transport department website at https://transport.karnataka.gov.in or www.siam.in.

Click on the ‘Book HSRP’ option.

Select your vehicle manufacturer and provide the required basic vehicle details.

Choose a dealer location for the installation of HSRPs that is convenient for you.

Proceed to make the HSRP fee payment online; cash payments are not accepted.

An OTP will be generated and sent to the mobile number of the vehicle owner.

Using the website, select a date and time for the installation of HSRPs according to your convenience.

Visit your vehicle manufacturer or dealer to have the HSRPs affixed.
