Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Shivamogga airport today. The greenfield airport developed at an estimated cost of Rs 449 crore will be the 9th airport of the state and the first one in the central part of Karnataka.
The airport has been built on 775 acres of land, has 3.2 km of runway, and has a 4320 sq ft passenger terminal.

At around 11:45 AM, the Prime Minister will undertake a walk-through and inspect Shivamogga Airport, after which, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple projects at Shivamogga. Thereafter, at around 3:15 PM, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and dedicate multiple development initiatives at Belagavi and also release the 13th instalment of PM-KISAN.

Prime Minister emphasis on improving air connectivity all across the country will get yet another boost with the inauguration of Shivamogga Airport. The new airport is developed at a cost of around Rs 450 crore. The Passenger Terminal Building of the airport can handle 300 Passengers per hour. The airport will improve connectivity and accessibility of Shivamogga and other neighbouring areas in the Malnad region.
The dedication of this airport coincides with the 80th birthday of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa. The PM will also lay the foundation stone for several developmental projects worth Rs 3,600 crore in Shivamogga today.
Modi will fly to Belagavi in the afternoon, he will dedicate developmental projects worth Rs 2,700. Prior to that the PM will hold mega roadshow in the city, the 10.7 km long roadshow begins at KSRP Ground and reach Malani city where he will address the gathering.
PM Modi will dedicate the renovated Belagavi railway station, a rail line doubling project between Londa and Belagavi, and Jal Jeevan Mission multi-village scheme projects.
