Hubballi: Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal inaugurated the divisional office of the Food Corporation of India virtually on Monday.
To celebrate Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav week, FCI, Karnataka region is organizing various programs from November 15th to November 21.
The Divisional Office Hubballi, though established in 1971, it had been functioning from rented buildings. With the necessity of owned building and gainful utilization of land available at Unkal depot premises, the construction of the DO building started on June 18, 2020, and was completed in November 2021 with a budget of Rs1.8 crores.
The building was provisioned for 42 staff members, with energy-efficient LED lights, a quality control lab, a record room, a cafeteria, a power backup facility, and a rooftop open auditorium for cultural activities.
Divisional Office Hubballi monitors the supply for 7 revenue districts of Karnataka through a warehouse network of 2.6 lakh metric ton capacity. With 30% ration cardholders and 25% of ration shops of the state, the district assumes significance in terms of operations and thus plays a vital role.
