Former AICC chief Rahul Gandhi cast his vote at a special booth created at the campsite in Ballari for the delegates who are taking part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The party is voting to elect its first non-Gandhi president after 20 years. The veteran leader from Karnataka Mallikarjun Kharge, and young MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Shashi Tharoor face off in the grand old party’s election.
The next party leader will be chosen by secret vote by over 9,000 Pradesh Congress Committee delegates from the Electoral College.
Voting will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Congress headquarters in Delhi and at over 65 voting stations around the country.
