Shri Kallayyajjanavaru, the successor of Shri PuttarajaGawai and head of Shri Veereshwara Punyashram unveiled the statue of Pandit PuttarajaGawai at the garden of Gadag Railway Station premises recently.
Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, renowned Hindustani vocalist, and Padma Shri Awardee; Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division; Krityanand Jha, Senior Divisional Engineer, East; AravindaHerle, Divisional Commercial Manager; Sandeep Chilakwad, staff of Hubballi division and others were present.
Arvind Malkhede said that the statue of Pandit Puttaraja Gawai has been installed at Gadag station to commemorate his contribution to music, culture, and upliftment of the blind and disabled.
Veereshwara Punysharam continuously performing Anna Dasoha, feeding about 1500 residents daily. Sri Kallayyajjanavru appreciated the Railways in recognizing the great saint of this region. He also said that this institution has trained a number of renowned artists.
Pandit Venkatesh Kumar also appreciated the work of Railways in promoting local art, music, and culture through such initiatives.
