Dharwad: P. Ravi Kumar, Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, visited IIT Dharwad recently. He had discussions with Prof. P. Seshu, Director, IIT Dharwad, who explained the programs and activities of the Institute.

Ravi Kumar inaugurated the High-Performance Computing Facility. He then visited the Space Data Science Lab and the Sophisticated Central Instrumentation Facility (SCIF) and interacted with the faculty members.

Ravi Kumar also visited the upcoming permanent campus of IIT Dharwad. Prof. Nagesh Iyer, Dean (IPS), briefed him about the construction at the site. The Chief Secretary took a keen interest in the development and construction activities, resolving many issues relating to basic infrastructure services (such as water supply, power supply, and the relocation of HT lines on campus) to be provided by the Karnataka government.He gave instructions to the concerned officials to provide the necessary support to IIT Dharwad.

Ravi Kumar appreciated the academic and R & D activities carried out at IIT Dharwad. He also complimented IIT Dharwad for the excellent manner in which the construction activities are carried out on the permanent campus.

Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil and other officials accompanied the chief secretary.
