Dharwad: Led by Assistant Commissioner Ashok Teli, a team of officials conducted raids on godowns storing prohibited (Plaster of Paris)POP Ganesh idols. During the raid at a Dharwad CB Nagar location near Lingayat Bhavan, they discovered various types of idols including POP-made, soil-mixed POP idols, artificially colored Ganesh idols, and sand-mixed pop idols stored by Manjunath Belagaumkar. Some of these were sent for testing.
Subsequently, they inspected a godown near Parisar Bhavan, revealing that 90% of the idols were made from the banned POP material. The officials ordered their seizure and transfer to a central storage facility.
