Hubballi, By Hubli Express News Service: Imagine stepping onto a bus, lacking cash for a ticket, but effortlessly purchasing one by scanning UPI barcode from your bank account. That is cool right?
The North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) is contemplating the introduction of digital payment options for on-board ticket purchases, aimed at elevating passenger convenience. This innovative payment method also holds the potential to alleviate conductor challenges, such as providing change for passengers with higher denomination currency notes for small-ticket fares.
In a proactive move, NWKRTC Managing Director Bharat S initiated a Twitter poll on Saturday, soliciting user feedback. He posed the question, “Will bus travelers opt for purchasing NWKRTC bus tickets on board using UPI apps like BHIM, PhonePe, PayTM, or similar mobile applications?”
Upon contacting the MD, he revealed plans to initiate a trial run in one depot that predominantly handles premier operations.
