Gadag: The Gadag CEN Police have apprehended an accused who duped an Abbigeri citizen by promising to assist him in erecting a reputed company mobile tower on his residential plot. The scammer pretended to be calling from a reputable telecom company, and he persuaded the victim that just by depositing Rs 2.20 lakh, which included GST, engineering fees, and other fees, he could easily make Rs 60 lakh.
The victim had sent Rs 2.20 lakh to the trickster’s account because he believed the trickster. After the money was transferred, the victim realized he had been duped because there was no more communication.
The victim filed a complaint with the CEN police, and an accused was apprehended as a result of the investigation.
