Haveri, By Hubli Express News: Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai addressed rumors circulating about his potential candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha election for the Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha seat.
He clarified that he has no interest in entering national politics. During a press conference following his attendance at Haveri district core-committee meeting, Bommai stated unequivocally that he has never announced his intention to run for the Lok Sabha election. He attributed these speculations to media reports.
When questioned about whether KE Kantesh, the son of former minister KS Eshwarappa, would contest the election from this seat, Bommai explained that the party would make a decision regarding this matter.
Regarding the possible alliance between the BJP and JD(S), Bommai admitted that he was not well-informed about the developments but expressed contentment over JD(S) leader HD Deve Gowda’s meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah. He stated that the specifics of the alliance negotiations have not been publicly disclosed yet, but a decision on seat-sharing between the two parties is expected in the coming weeks.
