Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the son of former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and the current state president of the JD(S) youth wing, has announced his resignation from his post. This decision comes after CM Ibrahim, the JD(S) state president, also tendered his resignation following the party’s significant defeat in the recent assembly election. Although Ibrahim’s resignation has not been accepted yet, Nikhil has followed suit and submitted his resignation letter to Ibrahim.
Nikhil expressed his unwavering commitment to the party while requesting the opportunity for new leadership to take charge. He emphasized that defeat should not be viewed as final and cited his resignation as a means to rebuild the party. He affirmed his dedication to working towards the party’s growth and pledged his willingness to contribute to its development.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s defeat in the Ramangara constituency, traditionally considered a stronghold of the JD(S) party, came at the hands of Congress candidate HA Iqbal Hussain.
