Hubballi: Rohan Gupta, the AICC spokesperson, has accused the BJP of hypocrisy on nepotism, stating that 36 candidates fielded by the party for the upcoming assembly elections are relatives of politicians or political families. Gupta claimed that one in every six candidates announced by the BJP had received their ticket due to nepotism or “Parivarwaad”.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Gupta released a list of these candidates and said that they would be shown the door by the people of Karnataka in the election. He also criticized BJP President JP Nadda for his alleged threatening speech in Shiggaon, where he reportedly told people they would be deprived of the blessings of PM Modi if they did not vote for the BJP.
Gupta believes that the people of Karnataka have already made up their minds to reject the BJP and that the Congress party will form the next government by securing 146 seats, while the BJP will be reduced to just 40 seats. Despite the BJP’s attempts to campaign in the state, Gupta believes it will be too little, too late for them.
Vidyanagar Block Congress President, Rajat Ullagaddimath, Congress party Dharwad Rural District president Anil Kumar Patil, former MP IG Sanadi, and others were present.
