Shivamogga: Days after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that the state government has decided to name the airport after former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, the Lingayat strongman said that the newly constructed airport, which will be inaugurated on February 27 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, should be renamed after Jnanapeetha awardee poet Kuvempu.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, the former CM said, “In the ongoing session, an unanimous decision will be made and the proposal to name the airport after “Rashtrakavi” will be sent. “Prime Minister Modi will be inaugurating it, and I request that he make this announcement.”
In a program held in Shivamogga, CM Bommai announced that the airport would be named after the veteran BJP leader and stated that the cabinet had made the decision.
