Hubballi: The victim who was found murdered on one of the coaches of the Guntakal Hubballi passenger train late Thursday night has been identified by the government railway police.
The deceased has been identified as Anjaneya Tandopa, 50, a resident of Adhoni town in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Anjaneya was on his way to meet her daughter- and son-in-law, Srinivas Putlur, near Indi Pump in Old Hubballi when the incident happened, said the sources.
The police said that the train reached Hubballi station around 1.15 am instead of its scheduled arrival time of 9.25 pm. Sources said that the police found a knife where the dead body was found, and they are searching for the initial clues to solve the case. According to the sources, the victim spoke to his daughter after reaching Gadag station and informed her that he would call her once he alight at Hubballi station, but after that conversation, the mobile phone got switched off.
“The incident came to light when the cleaning staff entered the coach to clean it, and they immediately informed the beat police,” said the police.
