Mumbai: The criminal branch police of Mira Bhayandar-Vasai-Virar have arrested a 23-year-old bodybuilder for allegedly stealing motorbikes to fuel his steroid addiction, reported Free Press Journal.
The criminal branch police were asked to investigate because of the rapid increase in bike theft cases under the jurisdiction of Mira Road, Kashimira, and other police stations within its limits.
A police team led by inspector Aviraj Kurhade successfully nabbed the accused after an intense investigation. The police team activated a team of informers, scanned the CCTV footage of where the bike theft happened and zeroed in on a suspect based on a definite tip-off.
The police nabbed Vighnesh Mishra, a resident of Mira Road, and during the inquiry it was found that he was addicted to steroids and used to lift bikes and sell them at throwaway prices, claiming that the bikes were seized by the banks because the owners failed to repay the EMIs, reported the newspaper.
The police seized 10 bikes from him worth Rs 4.20 lakh
