The Dakshina Kannada police have detained six people in connection with a moral policing case reported in Surathkal.

According to the police, the accused Prashanth, Prateesh, Prahlad, Guruprasad, Bharath, and Sukesh threatened Mohammad Yasin, a BSc student of Mukka Srinivas college, and his classmate, a girl student of another religion, while Yasin was dropping the girl off at her apartment on his bike around 10 p.m. on Monday night.

When the accused saw them near the apartment, they stopped them, asked for the boy’s name, and attacked him for dropping the girl. While attacking Yasin, they also threatened the girl and inappropriately touched her.

Later, the victim filed a complaint against the accused. The police are investigating the case.
