MLC election: BJP clears names of its candidates

Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday announced its list of candidates for the ensuing biennial election to the state Legislative Council (MLC) from local authorities’ constituencies of the state.

The party named Arun Shahapur for the North-West Teachers’ constituency, Hanumant Rudrappa Nirani, brother of Heavy Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, for the North West Graduates’ Constituency, and MV Ravishankar for the South Graduates’ Constituency.

The party’s central election committee cleared the names of the candidates. The party did not announce the name for the West Teachers’ Constituency and the suspension of announcing the name for this constituency continues. It is said that the BJP is trying hard to bring senior MLC and Chairman of the Council Basavaraj Horatti into the party fold, but neither Horatti nor BJP leaders are saying anything clearly on this issue.
