Ballari and Hubballi: Vijayanagar MLA Anand Singh, who voiced dissatisfaction shortly after the portfolio announcement, would meet Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tomorrow.
Today, Anand Singh was assigned to the tourism ministry. He had the same portfolio in the BS Yediyurappa government as well, but in a news conference in Ballari shortly after the announcement, he expressed his discontent and remarked that rather than being a minister, it was preferable to stay an MLA.
“I am unhappy since I did not get the portfolio that I requested. I did not get the desired ministry in the Yediyurappa administration either. I want to serve the public, and in order to do so, I need a ministry through which I can do good for people,” he stated.
“I’ll meet with him (the CM) and ask the ministry what I want if he doesn’t give me the portfolio I wanted. I’ll be compelled to forge my own way “Anand Singh said.
He said he was the first MLA to quit Congress in order to help the BJP’ to form the government. “Although I did not tell it, it is my sacrifice. The BJP formed the government as a result of my sacrifice,” he said. In response to a query regarding which portfolio he had asked about, he stated that he couldn’t reveal it in front of media people.
