MLA Abbayya sets a deadline for removal of fake voters

Hubballi: MLA Prasad Abbayya has set the deadline for the removal of fake voters from the voters’ list, he warned the officials that if the fake voters were not removed in the next 15 days, he would recommend stern action against election department officials.

He was chairing a meeting of election officers at the HDMC auditorium on Saturday. He claimed that 207 fake voters were discovered in booth 47 of ward 64 of the Hubballi-Dharwad (East) constituency and 424 fake voters were discovered in booth 30 of the same constituency, despite the fact that officials have not taken action to remove them from the voter list.

The Booth Level Officer (BLO) and his supervisor have failed to perform their duties due to political pressure. He instructed officials not to budge under any pressure and remove the fake voters from the list within 15 days and submit a report of action taken; if they failed to do so, he would recommend taking harsh action against them.

Since the BLO has been working in the same booths for the last 5–6 years, they know the details about the voters in their block. He directed that the names of voters who had not lived in the constituency for six months be removed. These voters live in another constituency but vote here, according to him.

HDMC Commissioner Dr. Gopal Krishna instructed officials to complete the task in the next 10 days and submit a report.
