—————————————————————————————————————————–Hubballi: On October 21, the locomotive of Train No. 08463 Bhubaneswar – KSR Bengaluru Express Special suffered damage due to stones placed on tracks by miscreants, just near Oddarahalli Station. Promptly, railway authorities arranged an alternative engine to haul the train. However, in the meantime, the train suffered detention from 9.52 AM to 11.14 AM.
Railway officials have registered an FIR under sections 147 and 154 of the Railway Act and have detained one person in connection with the incident at Oddarahalli.
There were also incidents of stone-pelting on receiving trains, reported during last week, between Hebbal and Banaswadi, Lottegollahalli and Hebbal near Channasandra, and near Tumakuru Stations. Cases have been registered against miscreants by the Railway Protection Force.
The General Manager of South Western Railway, Sanjeev Kishore, expressed his deep concern over these incidents when he took up the issue during his weekly safety review meeting with the three divisions (Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Hubballi) via video conference.
Mr Kishore has appealed to the public to pro-actively report incidences of deliberate mischief. He has stated that railway property is public property, and damage to railway property is a national loss. The public may report all kinds of miscreant activity and concerns pertaining to safety on helpline number 139.
It is also pointed out that acts of mischief on railway tracks may not only cause safety violations for train operations but also be fatal to trespassers.
