Raichur: On Wednesday, unknown assailants brutally murdered a Gram Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) in the Raichur district.
The deceased has been identified as Gajadandayya Swami, a PDO working at Kota Gram Panchayat. The police have expressed doubt that the PDO might have been murdered by the miscreants during the exchanging of Banni leaves, receiving Prasada, or while doing Namaskara to God, as the deceased removed his helmet and left his footwear. The police sources said that since Wednesday was Vijayadashami, miscreants might have stopped his bike on the pretext of exchanging Banni.
The police said that the murderers could be known to the deceased, hence he stopped his bike. The miscreants might have attacked him with sharp weapons while he was busy conversing with the other accused. The motive behind the murder is still not known. Lingasuguru police have registered a case.
