Ballari: As people all over India were observing Pitru Paksha (a custom to offer sesame, water, and food to the ancestors from 10 September to 26 September), Transport Minister B. Sriramulu also performed the annual Shradh at Yantroddhara temple in Ballari city on Sunday.
He offered tarpan to his ancestors and to those who had passed away in his family. The Minister also offered “Tarpan” and did “Pind Daan” to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajapayee, former union ministers Sushma Swaraj, Ananth Kumar, and Suresh Angadi by taking their names and Gotras, said the priests.
The priests said that Minister Sri Ramulu has been offering Pitru Tarpan for the last nine years. In the past, he did it in holy places like Hampi, Kashi, and Mantralayam. He is doing the ritual for the fourth time in the same temple, said Balaram Acharya. He also did donations and arranged meals for the people.
