Bengaluru: The Congress party will go on a padayatra from Mekedatu to Bengaluru in the first week of December, demanding that the state government start work on the Mekedatu project, according to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar.
On Sunday, during a joint press conference with the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar stated that the Padayatra will cover more than 100 kilometres. The date of the Padayatra will be announced later, he said.
He said there are no hurdles to implementing the project, but the BJP government is not showing any commitment to implementing it. There is no harm to Tamil Nadu from this project. In fact, they will reap the benefits. This project will help in providing drinking water to Bengaluru city, he said.
Leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah, said, “Our government had prepared a design and blueprint and had prepared a report on the Mekedatu project. The implementation of the project was delayed because the BJP government did not approve the project. There are no hurdles to implementing the project, including legal hurdles, “he said.
