Hubballi: Next time you visit Hubballi airport, you will see Guru and Maya sniffing your bags. The Karnataka State Industrial Security Force has inducted these two one-year-old Belgium Shepherd dogs into its squad. With the induction of these sniffer dogs, the security at Hubballi airport got better.
The canines were inducted into the squad after seven months of training at CRPF Dog Breeding and Training School, Taralu in Bengaluru.
According to sources, the Belgian Shepherds are very aggressive dogs who have been specially trained to detect explosives and drugs. The dogs have been given the names Guru and Maaya.
Guru was trained to detect narcotics, and Maaya was trained to detect explosives. The dogs will be used for detecting explosives, and narcotics in flights and baggage of the passengers at the airport, said sources.
During the induction of the dogs to the squad, T Fyzuddin, Commandant of KSISF Third Battalion, Hubballi Airport Director Pramod Kumar Thackery, Inspector Mahesh Huddar, PSI Hanumanth Kaari, dog handlers Mahesh Doddamani, Ramesh Uppar, Fakirappa Hullur, Manjunath D were present.
