Hubballi: Mayor Iresh Anchatgeri expressed his willingness to contest in the upcoming election for the Hubballi-Dharwad (West) Assembly seat if given the ticket by his party.
He stated that it is his right as a party worker to request for the ticket, but the decision ultimately lies with the party leaders.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Anchatgeri mentioned that he had conveyed his desire to the city district president, but has not submitted a formal application yet as the party has not called for applications from aspirants.
When questioned about the possibility of the party choosing him over the current MLA Arvind Bellad, Anchatgeri stated that the party may consider social justice and prioritize new faces. However, he also mentioned that if the party decides not to give him the ticket, he will work towards ensuring the victory of the chosen candidate.
He said that he also sought a ticket from the Hubballi-Dharwad (West) constituency in the past also, but somehow the party did not grant him a ticket.
