Maulana Shafi Saadi took charge as chairperson of the Karnataka State Board of Wakf, defeating his opponent, Asif Ali Sheik Hussain, on Wednesday. He is the first BJP-backed member to hold this position.
According to the information shared by the Regional Commissionerate, Saadi and Hussain were the only two candidates who contested for the post. There are 10 board members.
BJP state president Naleen Kumar Kateel congratulated Maulana. Maulana got six votes whereas his opponent got four votes, said Kateel.
