Hubballi: When Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai arrived at Hubballi airport, there were very few BJP party workers and leaders there to greet him. It was the chief minister’s first official visit and his first tour since taking office. However, it was unexpected to see so few Hubballi-Dharwad leaders at the airport.
At the airport, just two or three members of the party were there. Only Amrut Desai was present among the MLAs. Only Mahesh Tenginkai and Lingaraj Patil were with the CM among the party functionaries.
Some of the party workers informed hubliexpress.com they were not aware of CM’s visit to the city and most of the leaders in Bengaluru to attend the swearing ceremony of the CM. But their explanation did not satisfy the general public.
Arvind Bellad, MLA and BJP Hubballi-Dharwad City District President, told hubliexpress.com that his visit was not well publicised. “It was a trip to Uttar Kannada rather than Hubballi. The tour schedule was made public late at night. Workers from the party were in Bengaluru. I am also in Bengaluru. Hence media might have seen few workers and leaders” he said.
