Hubballi: Two individuals were arrested by the City Crime Branch police in Hubballi on Thursday for attempting to sell opium near the new bus stand on Gokul Road.
The suspects, identified as Mularam Purohit and Jayaram Bishnoi, both natives of Rajasthan and residing in Shivamogga, were apprehended by a CCB team led by ACP Narayan Barmani.
The police seized 1 kilogram and 186 grams of opium, valued at Rs 11.86 lakh, along with cash, mobile phones, and other items, bringing the total seizure to Rs 12.07 lakh.
According to police sources, the suspects had brought the illegal drug from Rajasthan and were attempting to sell it in Hubballi. A case has been registered and an investigation is going on.
