Mahindra has officially revealed the Thar Roxx 5-door SUV, one of the most eagerly awaited car launches of 2024. Building on the success of the Thar 3-door SUV introduced four years ago, the Thar Roxx promises to enhance its predecessor’s appeal with more features, greater practicality, and a fresh design. With base prices set at ₹12.99 lakh for the petrol variant and ₹13.99 lakh for the diesel variant, here’s a quick rundown of what the Thar Roxx brings to the table:

  1. New Design Elements: The Thar Roxx sports a fresh design with a triangular rear quarter glass and a thicker B-pillar, giving it a distinctive look. The slanted roof has garnered mixed opinions online, but the overall silhouette remains appealing.
  2. Wheel Arch Redesign: The circular rear wheel arches of the previous model have been replaced with squarish arches, adding a new dimension to the vehicle’s rugged appearance.
  3. Alloy Wheel Update: The alloy wheels have been redesigned, differentiating the Thar Roxx from the 3-door model.
  4. Engine Options: The Thar Roxx will offer two engine choices: a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine in two power outputs (160 Hp and 170 Hp) and a 2.2L turbo-diesel engine with 132 Hp and 171 Hp.
  5. Transmission Choices: Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) and a 6-speed automatic transmission (AT).
  6. Advanced Suspension: The Thar Roxx will feature a more advanced suspension system than its predecessor, with FSD shock absorbers and a penta-link setup derived from the Scorpio-N.
  7. Off-Road Capabilities: It comes equipped with an electronic brake-locking differential at the front, a mechanically locking rear differential, a low-ratio transfer case, off-road crawl control, and an intelli-turn assist feature.
  8. Improved Angles: The Thar Roxx boasts a 23.6-degree breakover angle, a 41.3-degree approach angle, and a 36.1-degree departure angle, making it highly capable off-road.
  9. Water-Wading Depth: The SUV can handle water depths of up to 650 mm, ensuring it’s ready for challenging terrains.
  10. Market Positioning: While it theoretically competes with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the Thar Roxx stands in a league of its own, with no direct rivals in the market.
