Chittagong witnessed a breathtaking display of batting prowess as Bangladeshi opening batsmen, Litton Das and Rony Tahsildar, gave a scintillating performance against Ireland in the second T20I on Wednesday. The duo broke records and provided pure entertainment, smashing the Ireland bowlers around the Zahur Ahemad Chaudhury Stadium.
Lightning from Litton Das
The opening pair laid the foundation for Bangladesh‘s victory by giving a solid start of 124 for the first wicket partnership. Although Litton Das got a life in the fourth over on 16, he made up for it by smashing 17 runs off that over. Das hit a half-century in just 18 balls, displaying sheer power and finesse. His innings of 83 runs in just 41 balls contained mammoth three sixes and 10 fours, leaving the Ireland bowlers clueless.
Tahsildar played the perfect second fiddle, scoring a brisk 44 off 23 balls. He hit two sixes and three fours in his innings, providing support to Litton Das in their quest to dominate the opposition. Shakib Al Hasan contributed with 38 runs off 24 balls, consolidating Bangladesh’s position in the match.
Despite a rain-affected match, Bangladesh managed to put up a mammoth total of 202 runs on the board, leaving Ireland with an uphill task to chase down the target. In response, Ireland’s batting line-up crumbled, as they were bowled out for just 125 runs, handing Bangladesh their second win in the three-match series.
Bangladesh will be hoping to continue their winning momentum in the third and final match of the series, while Ireland will be looking to bounce back and end the tour on a high note.
