Link your Aadhaar card with PAN, if failed, unlinked PANs become inoperative from April 1.
If you haven’t yet linked your Aadhaar card with your Permanent Account Number (PAN), it’s important to do so by March 31, 2023, as mandated by the Income Tax department under the Income Tax Act, 1961. Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to all unlinked PANs becoming inoperative from April 1.
To check whether your PAN is linked with the Aadhaar, you can visit the Income Tax e-filing portal and follow the steps to check Aadhaar-PAN card link status. Alternatively, you can send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 to check the status. If the Aadhaar-PAN link has been established, the message will confirm the linkage, and if not, it will advise the taxpayer to link the two documents, said a local website.
But if you’re someone who is not able to link your PAN- Aadhaar due to a mismatch in name, phone number, or date of birth, you can correct your details in either your PAN or Aadhaar database such that both have matching details, IT department portal reported.
Caution: This article is for only information purpose only. While checking the Aadhaar-PAN link status, ensure you use official portals. Beware of phishing scams and exercise caution while sharing sensitive information. Double-check the portal’s authenticity and do not send SMS to unknown numbers.
