Let him take a padayatra from Goa to Bengaluru: BJP mocks DK Shivakumar

One Congress leader from Karnataka went to Goa on a chartered flight with an ambitious mission to form a government using “money power.” “Now that BJP4Goa’s victory is assured, perhaps he should embark on a Padayatra to return to Bengaluru,” the Karnataka State BJP unit mocked Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D K Shivakumar.

The BJP posted a KOO to mock the KPCC president. According to the Election Commission’s website, the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the Goa Assembly, winning 14 seats and leading in six others.

But news reports say that the BJP has won 20 seats and Congress 11, and is leading in one seat. TMC and AAP have won two seats each, and the others have won four seats.

Reports are coming in that the Goa BJP and Pramod Sawant have secured the support of three independent candidates. Hence, it would not be difficult for Pramod Sawant to stake claim to the formation of the next government in the coastal state.

The BJP, which was in second place in the last election in terms of winning the seats, raced ahead of the Congress and stitched an alliance with the Maharashtra Gomantak Party and independents to form the government. The Congress faced humiliation because, despite being the single largest party, it was not able to stake a claim to form the government.

To avoid similar humiliation, the Congress party dispatched DK Shivakumar to Goa to ensure that the 2017 scenario did not repeat itself, but the Congress party remained a spectator this time as well.

As they are confident of getting enough numbers to form the new government, BJP leaders are set to call on Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai later today.
