Hyderabad: Legendary film-maker K Vishwanath, who directed Shankarabaranam, Swathi Muthyam, Sagar Sangamam, and many other super hit movies in the Telugu film industry and Bollywood, breathed his last on Thursday at his residence in Hyderabad.

He was 92 and was suffering from age-related health issues. The Dada-Saheb Phalke Award winner directed 53 movies, most of them in Telugu. He also directed Hindi versions of his Hindi movies, like Ishwar (Swathi Muthyam), Sanjog, Kaamchor, and many others.

Vishwanath started his career as an assistant director on Pathal Bhairavi, which was a bilingual movie. His debut movie as a director was Aatma Gowravam, which won the state Nandi Award for best feature film of that year.

Shankarabaranam, his first big hit in 1980, broke many commercial records and gave Vishwanath national recognition. In 1992, he received the Padma Shri Award.
