Laal Singh Chaddha all likely to become a box office bomb

New Delhi: Amir Khan starrer movie Laal Singh Chaddha is likely to turn into a box office bomb, as the film was able to garner just 7 crore on the opening day. Some reports said the movie was able to collect Rs 12 crore.

Before the film’s release, the “boycott Lal Singh Chaddha” trend dominated social media, which could have impacted the film’s earnings. The film is an adaptation of the Hollywood blockbuster Forest Gump, and many viewers who saw it said it was not up to par.

Movie trade analyst Taran Adarsh said #LaalSinghChaddha is shockingly low on Day 1… The dull start has added to the woes of an ailing industry… Better at premium multiplexes, but mass circuits are weak… Needs to score big numbers from Fri-Sun to salvage the situation… Thu ₹ 12 cr. #India biz. *ALL* VERSIONS.(SIC)”

Due to low response from the audience, approximately 1300 shows of Laal Singh Chaddha have been reduced by the exhibitors on Friday, reported Bollywood Hungama.

The second day after the film’s theatrical debut, the attendance dropped noticeably. On Friday, the movie brought in almost 7 crore rupees. The movie’s domestic box office earnings after two days will be close to Rs 19 crore. It had competed with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, which had seen comparable box office results.
