Kyarkatti decides to remain in the Congress party but alleges Rajat Ullagaddimath was responsible for his defeat.

Hubballi: Senior Congress leader Prakash Kyarkatti, who had decided to join the BJP, has changed his mind and decided to continue in the party.

Speaking to Kyarkatti said that he was disappointed after his defeat in the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation election and the developments that took place after the election. I was upset that Vidyanagar Block Congress president Rajat Ullagaddimath was responsible for my defeat. He encouraged my opponent to run for the election and he spread the news that I wouldn’t get the party ticket to contest the election, but it was KPCC President who gave me a ticket and allowed me to contest the election on the Congress party symbol, “he said.”

He decided to continue in the party following his meeting with the KPCC president. “DK Shivakumar asked me to not quit the party and promised me that the party would recognise my contribution and accord the position when the Congress forms the next government,” said Kyarkatti.

Kyarkatti also alleged that Rajat is behaving like Hubballi’s high command based on the support of Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar. But he should know that, politically, he is very small. “He is a kid in front of me. I am like a grandfather to him. But he tried to divide the party, “he alleged.

Reacting to Kyarkatti’s allegation, Rajat Ullagaddimath said, “He is like a father to me. I respect him immensely. Whatever accusation he levelled against her is untrue. I am happy that he did not join the BJP. As the party’s block president, I personally handed over the ticket to him to contest the HDMC election. He is my mentor also. And I will respect him always.”
