Hubballi: The Keshwapur police celebrated Women’s Day in a unique manner on Tuesday. The Inspector of the station, Jagadish Hanchinal, and staff offered books and sweets to the female staff. And later in the evening, they celebrated the day by cutting a cake.
With the intention that they should also become avid readers, Jagadish Hanchinal, who is one of the very few policemen who has an immense interest in literature and is an avid reader, gifted the books to the staff.
There are nine women staff working in the Keshwapur police station. Hanchinal said that celebrating the women in this manner was very unique and he claimed no police station in the twin city celebrated the day like this.
Hanchinal said the day is observed to honour women’s contributions, to raise awareness about gender inequality, and to take action for equality.
