The Karnataka government has established an inquiry commission led by a retired High Court judge to investigate alleged irregularities in medicine and equipment procurement, as well as oxygen supply mismanagement during the COVID-19 pandemic under the previous BJP administration.
The commission, headed by Justice John Michael D’Cunha, is expected to deliver its findings within three months.
The decision comes in response to serious charges highlighted by the Public Accounts Committee’s report in July-August, which indicated negligence in these areas resulting in loss of life.
The government order mandates concerned departments to cooperate by providing necessary documents and resources for the investigation. The ruling Congress, pledging a thorough inquiry into these irregularities, initiated the commission after assuming power.
