Bengaluru, (June 9): Karnataka’s Minister for Muzrai (Religious Endowments), Ramalinga Reddy, has announced that from August 15, the use of plastic items, including water bottles, will be completely banned in all temples under the jurisdiction of the Muzrai Department.
Speaking at a press conference following a review meeting of the department held at Vikasa Soudha, the minister said, “We are launching the Plastic-Free Temple initiative from August 15. Under no circumstances should plastic be used in temples.”
He added that a grace period of two months has been given to implement this order. “If plastic items have already been procured, they can be used up, but from August 15, plastic usage in temples will not be permitted,” he clarified.
