State government has decided to lift the weekend curfew in the state. The decision was taken at a Covid review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai at home office Krishna in Bengaluru with experts from the medical fraternity regarding easing the Covid norms in the state.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting Revenue Minister R Ashoka said that the government has decided to withdraw the weekend curfew, but it will be imposed again if the hospitalization rate increases which is at present below 5 %.
Night curfew will continue in the state 10 PM to 5 am, he said and added that other curbs such as restrictions on gathering, marriages, and others will continue, he said.
In the meeting Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. K Sudhakar, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh, Revenue Minister R Ashoka, Minister Govind Karjol and others were present.
Regarding schools and college reopening, the minister said schools in Bengaluru will remain closed till January 29 and a decision on reopening will be taken on January 29, he said.
