According to a pre-poll survey conducted by TV 9 Kannada in association with C Voters, the Congress party is expected to perform better than the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) in the upcoming elections in the state. The survey indicates that there is a chance of the BJP getting a slightly lower share of votes, which could result in a hung assembly.
The survey indicates that the Congress is expected to receive 40% of the votes, the BJP 33.9%, and the JDS 18.8%. In the previous election, Congress received 38% of the votes, the BJP received 36%, and the JDS received 18%. The report also suggests that the share of votes for independent candidates is likely to decrease from 8% to 7.3%.
The survey predicts that the Congress could win between 106 to 116 seats, the BJP 79 to 89, and the JDS between 24 to 34. Others may receive 0 to 5 seats. In Central Karnataka, the Congress is expected to win 18 to 22 seats, the BJP 13 to 17, and the JDS and others may receive one seat each.
In Coastal Karnataka, the survey suggests that the Congress could win between 1 to 5 seats, the BJP 16 to 20 seats, while the JDS may not be able to open its account. In Greater Bengaluru, the Congress is expected to win 18 to 22 seats, the BJP 7 to 11 seats, the JDS 1 to 5 seats, and others may receive one.
In Kalyan Karnataka, the TV 9 Kannada and C voter survey predicts that the Congress could win 16 to 20 seats, the BJP 11 to 15, the JDS 1, and others may receive one seat. In Kittur Karnataka, the Congress is expected to win 25 to 29 seats, the BJP 21 to 25, while the JDS and others are expected to receive one seat each.
Overall, the TV9 Kannada C Voter survey suggests that Congress could emerge as the leading party in the upcoming elections, with a higher share of votes and more seats in the assembly.
