A case has been formally lodged against the renowned Kannada actor Upendra. He is accused of making derogatory comments related to caste, causing significant offense to a particular community. These comments were allegedly uttered during a live online session on both Facebook and Instagram. The session was organized to commemorate the anniversary of his political group “Prajaakeeya” last Saturday.
Following the incident, several complaints about the actor’s remarks were reported to the police on Sunday. In an attempt to rectify his actions, Upendra promptly deleted the live video from his social media accounts on the same Saturday and issued an apology.
It is said that the actor is absconding after FIR has been registered against him. Minister Priyank Kharge said that Upendra is a matured actor but his words have hurt the people, he should have been careful while uttering those words.
