Kalaburagi: In response to the city’s extreme heat, the Kalaburagi city police department has launched a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state aimed at protecting its traffic police personnel from soaring temperatures.
Kalaburagi often records temperatures between 44 to 45 degrees Celsius during May, making it one of the hottest regions in Karnataka. To safeguard on-duty officers—particularly those in the traffic division—from intense heat exposure, the department has introduced air-conditioned helmets. On the pilot basis, 10 such helmets were provided to the cops, and in the future it would be given to those on the patrolling and traffic duty.
Additionally, 3M pollution masks are being distributed to protect them from air pollution and dust, said Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa S.D.
