Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Farana village, where a state-level kabaddi player, Brajesh Solanki, lost his life to rabies on June 28, nearly a month after he was bitten by a puppy he had rescued from a drain.
A disturbing video that has since surfaced online shows Solanki lying on a cot, suffering from intense symptoms associated with rabies, while onlookers desperately attempted to calm him.
According to Solanki’s brother, Sandeep, the young athlete had been bitten by the puppy during the rescue but failed to seek post-exposure treatment. “The bite happened when he was saving the puppy. Unfortunately, he didn’t take it seriously and skipped the anti-rabies vaccine,” Sandeep shared.
Solanki’s health suddenly deteriorated on June 26 while he was practicing with fellow kabaddi players. “He was on the field with around 20-25 others when he began to face breathing issues,” Sandeep added.
Sandeep further alleged that multiple government hospitals turned them away. “One private hospital in Aligarh suspected a dog or monkey bite and advised us to rush him to the medical college or Delhi. When we reached Aligarh Medical College, they refused admission and ignored our repeated requests,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, Nitin, a close friend and fellow kabaddi player, said Solanki had never mentioned the bite incident to anyone. “We practiced together daily. He never told us about being bitten. His death came as a complete shock,” Nitin said.
