
Former Supreme Court Judge Justice S Abdul Nazeer has been appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh by the President of India.
Justice S. Abdul Nazeer was a part of the landmark Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi verdict. On February 18, 1983, he was born in Beluval, near Moodbidri. He practiced in the Karnataka High Court and was appointed as an additional judge, according to Bar and Bench.
According to the web portal, which recalled an incident about Justice Abdul Nazeer’s simplicity, during his farewell from the apex court, CJI DY Chandrachud mentioned that the judge did not even have a passport until 2019 and had only traveled outside the country for the first time to Moscow a few weeks before.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai congratulated the justice for being appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, he took to Twitter to congratulate him “Congratulations to former Supreme Court judge, Justice S Abdul Nazeer from Karnataka on being appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Best wishes for a successful gubernatorial tenure.”
