New Delhi, May 7, 2025 — Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar has reportedly acknowledged that members of his family were killed in the recent Indian military operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

According to media reports, including those cited by Hindustan Times via the BBC, Azhar stated that at least 10 of his family members lost their lives in the precision strikes carried out under Operation Sindoor. A Firstpost report also confirms that Azhar has publicly admitted the deaths, though the identities and exact locations of the deceased have not yet been independently verified.

The Indian government has not officially commented on these claims, but officials had earlier confirmed that the nine targeted sites were directly linked to anti-India terror operations and were used by groups like JeM, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and others for recruitment, training, and coordination.

Operation Sindoor was launched as a calibrated response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen were killed. The strikes were described as precise, non-escalatory, and focused exclusively on terrorist infrastructure, deliberately avoiding Pakistani military installations.

Further details are expected as both Indian and international sources continue to monitor developments following the operation.
