On Wednesday, the Congress party criticized Jagat Prakash Nadda, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, for allegedly threatening to deny the people of Karnataka their constitutional rights if they fail to vote for the ruling BJP government in the forthcoming assembly elections.
The Congress party shared a video clip of Nadda’s speech in Karnataka, claiming that it was a direct assault on democracy and an indication of the BJP’s treatment of the people of Karnataka.
1/3 pic.twitter.com/QmFcfWEnCh— Siddaramaiah (@siddaramaiah) April 19, 2023

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai accompanied by BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda and Kannada star Sudeep filed his nomination for the upcoming assembly election from Shiggaon in Haveri district.
Nadda addressed a public gathering after the filing and appealed for votes for Bommai and the BJP.
Nadda urged the people to vote for the lotus symbol, assuring that the continuous development of Karnataka will be ensured under the BJP government. This statement received criticism from Congress, who stated that citizens of a federal country are not subjects of a ruler but governed by the constitution.
Congress General Secretary in charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, expressed his discontent on Twitter, stating that there should be a limit to devotion. He further questioned Nadda’s intention behind threatening and scaring the people of Karnataka, and affirmed that with the blessings of the people of Karnataka, the Congress party will form the government.
